Overview
The AI National Skills Initiative (AINSI) is a nationwide AI and digital skills development programme implemented by Data Science Nigeria (DSN) in partnership with Microsoft. AINSI is designed to equip Nigerians with the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and responsible AI awareness required to participate effectively in an AI-driven economy.
Through its FY'26 implementation, AINSI brings together multiple learning pathways targeting individuals, developers, educators, public sector professionals, and government leaders, delivered through scalable, virtual, and hybrid models.
Programme Objectives
AINSI aims to:
Build AI fluency and digital literacy at a national scale
Improve understanding of practical AI applications across sectors
Enable responsible, ethical, and productive use of AI tools
Strengthen workforce readiness, employability, and innovation capacity
Support inclusive access to AI skills across Nigeria
Who Can Apply
AINSI is open to participants across Nigeria, including:
Youth, students, and job seekers
Developers and technical professionals
Educators and trainers
Public sector employees
No prior AI or technical background is required for foundational tracks.
Learning Experience
Across all tracks, participants will gain:
Digital and AI literacy fundamentals
Practical understanding of AI applications in work, learning, and governance
Responsible and ethical AI usage principles
Productivity enhancement using AI-powered tools
Delivery is primarily virtual and self-paced, with selected programmes incorporating facilitated sessions and in-person engagements where applicable.
